Today is Mother’s Day — a day to honor every mother who loves their little ones with all their heart. Thank you for being who you are. 🐾💛
This month, we’re talking about something that quite literally saves lives: Fostering 💛
WHAT IS FOSTERING, REALLY?
Fostering means opening your home to one of our dogs or cats for a little while — sometimes a few weeks, sometimes a month — until they find their forever family. That’s it. No long-term commitment. No financial burden.
Fostering a dog/cat can really change their life, we recently experienced one of biggest examples of it with cutest Melon!
STORY OF MELON
Melon was rescued from Dikili shelter in early 2025. Unfortunately, like almost all shelters in Turkey, the conditions there were very bad. Later that year, the shelter was actually closed completely and no one officially knows what happened to the dogs who had been waiting inside…
Melon was one of the lucky ones! She made it out, rescued by us, and thankfully she didn’t face any major health problems either, so we started her adoption process right away. But because she’s a big, mixed-breed girl, the applications never came. Not for weeks. Not for months. For more than a year, not a single application.
Then we met Öykü, who applied to become a foster home for one of our dogs and she was happy to give this cute girl a home until her forever family came along. A few weeks later, Melon flew to Berlin.
She adapted to apartment life in just a couple of days, and made her foster fall completely in love with her. Meanwhile, in the two weeks she was in Berlin, she received three adoption applications, and after meeting all of them, we knew exactly who was the best match for her.
Now Melon lives in Berlin with her family and finally has the life she deserves. None of this would have been possible if Öykü hadn’t stepped up and offered her foster home.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
If you have anyone in your circle thinking about getting a dog but not sure yet, or someone who would love to have a dog but can’t commit long-term, please tell them about our fostering program. Your help would be invaluable.

After flying to Amsterdam, Cleo has been diagnosed with hip fracture and unfortunately needs surgery to walk pain free again. The operation is costly and her parent created a campaign.
