Pets in Turkey : December 2025
Welcome to the December 2025 edition of our Pets in Turkey newsletter!
What we achieved together in 2025
As we leave behind another difficult and challenging year, we would like to share an overview of 2025 and reflect on what we achieved together — and how many lives were transformed simply because we care.
Despite significant financial difficulties this year, we managed to increase our rescue numbers. In 2025, 106 dogs and 24 cats were rescued, compared to 83 dogs and 13 cats last year. This alone is something we are incredibly proud of.
In terms of adoption, we successfully sent 102 dogs and 18 cats to the EU and the UK. Most of them are already home with their forever families, while some went to foster homes first and were later adopted.
At the moment, three cats — Cloud, Shirin and Ela — are in Berlin, waiting patiently in foster homes for their forever families.
Additionally, eight of our dogs are scheduled to fly in January. All are adopted except one, who will first go to a foster home.
Sadly, not every story had a happy ending. Along the way, we lost some precious souls to illness. Eddy, Alice, May, and our beloved cats Muffin and Elsa — you will never be forgotten. You remain forever in our hearts and memories.
This year also brought new donors, volunteers, flight volunteers, and fosters. We are deeply grateful to each and every one of you — none of this would be possible without your support.
We also built new partnerships that proved incredibly impactful. We were accepted onto the GlobalGiving platform and participated in two of their matching campaigns. Thanks to all of our supporters, we were able to cover most of our overdue clinic bills.
Additionally, we received an incredible offer from Kane Communication (USA), who developed a pro bono social media campaign for us and supported our GlobalGiving efforts. We can’t thank them enough.
All in all, 2025 was a year of ups and downs — filled with hard work, dedication, heartbreak, frustration, joy, and many happy tears. We are closing the year with wonderful news:
our beloved FINDIK, who waited 4 long years for a home, has finally been ADOPTED and will be flying to Hamburg in January!
As the PIT Team, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, filled with joy and good health.
Thank you for your trust, dedication, and unwavering support. We are the PIT FAMILY — and together, we will continue to save lives. 🐾❤️
With love,
The Pets in Turkey Team 🐶🐱
